CITROEN has released an all-electric version of its popular Berlingo van – the E-Berlingo Multispace.
As well as being versatile and practical, the Multispace has an all-electric range of 106 miles, giving drivers a usable zero-emission car.
Its compact permanent magnet synchronous motor means the E-Berlingo Multispace is able to offer smooth and progressive acceleration.
It joins the C-Zero in Citroen’s line-up of electric cars, giving buyers an alternative to the compact city vehicle. The layout of the E-Berlingo remains the same as the car upon which it is based, so has two sliding side doors and removable seats.
It also has a slightly better range than the C-Zero, which can only drive around 93 miles on all-electric power.
Charging times are respectable, with the E-Berlingo able to recharge 50 per cent of its total range in 15 minutes or to 80 per cent capacity in 30 minutes from a rapid charge point.
However, its standard charging time from a conventional power supply is around 10 hours.
Regenerative braking is also used when slowing the car down, helping to add extra charge to the batteries when out and about.
