AMERICAN carmaker Fisker has unveiled its bold new electric sports car, which it claims can gain more than 100 miles of range with less than 10 minutes of charge.
Called the EMotion, the £95,000 EV will be able to squeeze 400 miles from its battery, says Fisker.
This is just a tad more than its rival, the Tesla Model S, which can do, at most, around 390 miles on a single charge.
But the EMotion’s party piece is that it only needs nine minutes of charging for a 125-mile range.
Revealed at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the Californian-based firm also showcased the EV’s ‘butterfly’ doors, which it says will allow for better entry and exit from the vehicle, and not just for looks.
Plus, Fisker says the vehicle ‘supports full autonomy’ which could mean driverless features in the future.
The EMotion is also definitely a looker, and clearly takes many of its looks from Aston Martin – its chief executive Henrik Fisker was behind the design of the 2005-17 Vantage.
Fisker said: “The electric vehicle renaissance has truly begun - one that must be met with both timeless, yet futuristic form and hyper-intelligent function.”
Fisker is known more for its hybrid supercars, like the Karma, but its new venture comes with an electric-only powertrain that propels the car to a top speed of 161mph
However, there is currently no other performance information available for the car, but it is expected to arrive on UK shores from 2020.
Fisker has also not revealed what type of charging system it will use.
