Honda has revealed an all-electric sports car concept.
Shown at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, the Sports EV Concept hints at the potential for a future performance vehicle.
It mimics the boxy, retro styling seen on the Japanese manufacturer’s Urban EV Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Honda says the car was designed “to deliver a feeling of joy and emotional unity to the drive, achieved by efficiently combining the EV power unit and AI technology in a compact body shape”.
Although no exact details of the vehicle’s powertrain have been disclosed, Honda has revealed it is fully electric.
The Sports EV Concept has not been confirmed for production, but if it is built it will be Honda’s first mid-range sports car since the S2000 ceased production in 2009.
Displayed alongside the concept sports car was the Urban EV Concept — which will go on sale in 2019 for European markets, followed by Japan in 2020.
Both models are part of a push by Honda to electrify its range, which also sees a hybrid CR-V SUV going on sale in next year.
